Job Description

A4H is seeking to hire a Director of Federal Affairs who would be responsible for advocacy to support the organization’s goals to accelerate the adoption of effective accountable care. The Director of Federal Affairs would also work with A4H members and external stakeholders to develop alignment on policy positions and advocacy strategies. This role is hybrid but requires frequent in-person meetings on Capitol Hill.

Responsibilities Include

Advocacy and Legislative Affairs

  • Represent the organization in its legislative advocacy efforts and build relationships with key hill staff members who support accountable care.
  • Support efforts to build partnerships with key industry and advocacy groups to support common policy objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies for advocating on behalf of the organization and its members, including lobbying and grassroots advocacy campaigns.
  • Attend hearings, legislative sessions, and industry events to advocate for the organization’s policy positions.

 Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with member organizations to understand their policy needs and ensure their interests are represented in our advocacy efforts.
  • Provide members with timely updates on healthcare legislation and regulatory developments that may impact their operations.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders, policymakers, health care leaders, and industry groups, to build support for key policy initiatives.

 Education and Outreach

  • Develop educational materials and resources for members, explaining complex policy issues and their potential impact on the healthcare industry.
  • Develop content and speakers for internal member committee meetings, in-person events, and conferences.

Qualifications Include

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of work experience.
  • Experience with direct advocacy preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with experience working with diverse stakeholders.
